This is demonstrated by the recent award of several prestigious contracts. These successes combined, with existing contracts, provide a solid foundation for the company’s future.

Hydrosave has been awarded a 2 year framework for provision of leak detection and DMA management services to South Staffs Water. Initially up to five companies were selected for a trial period. Following a 12 month period of detailed weekly performance assessments Hydrosave has been selected as one of two service providers.
On a wet afternoon on 5th September, Three Valleys Water held a BBQ for all the teams employed in achieving their leakage target. The afternoon was a great success despite the rain. Employees were able to participate in Bucking Bronco, cricket, football and numerous fun events.
i2O Water Ltd has recently been commissioned to undertake trials of their intelligent pressure management control system. The project will be undertaken in South Staffs Water and the intention is to demonstrate the benefits of self learning algorithms and automated control /optimisation of water pressure within the distribution network. Hydrosave will be actively involved in the assessment of performance and the benefits realisation process.
As part of an existing framework agreement with Anglian Water, Hydrosave has provided over 30 temporary meter readers across the region. Hydrosave will be providing contract management, supervision and co-ordination services in order to achieve weekly completion of pre-defined meter reads and billing cycles. The project demonstrates the exceptional ability of the Hydrosave Contract Delivery Team to mobilise effectively. Regional recruitment, interviews, inductions, training and deployment were completed within a 3-4 week working window.

Hydrosave has agreed to work alongside OnSite to provide specialist water management services in India. Dhirinder Kumar, General Manager of OnSite India was in the UK and spent time with Hydrosave employees to understand the principles of leakage management, leak detection and the associated capital management required to achieve leakage reduction.
Working with Miya, Hydrosave has started a leak detection training programme in the Philippines. Local employees will be trained in aspects of step testing, leakage correlation, noise logging and in use of the ground microphone. The training will comprise classroom and practical training focused on the application of best practice in low pressure networks, the requirement for effective DMA set up and the need for effective customer analysis.
Hydrosave have been working closely with Advantica in running a pilot project of the new Burst Finder software product within Severn Trent Water. The software uses batch processing and genetic algorithm technology within existing SynerGEE network models to identify network leaks and anomalies as part of a desk top process. Hot spots for site investigation are then promoted for investigation. The pilot study was completed successfully in over 20 DMAs.
Hydrosave has completed a project for Severn Trent Water to provide a leakage campaign planning template across its region. The campaign pack provides the targeting and site teams with a methodology for planning a leak detection and DMA improvement programme. Using existing best practice within Severn Trent Water the project has promoted standardisation and identifies a framework for adopting best practice.

Hydrosave are delighted to announce that Severn Trent Water has achieved its 2007/ 2008 leakage target. With over 120 employees working in Warwickshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire in a variety of leak detection, network maintenance and management roles, Hydrosave welcomed the opportunity to align with Severn Trent Water on several new initiatives. The success of a DMA Improvement programme, campaign planning, pressure management initiatives and business change initiatives have all combined to ensure an excellent years’ performance.
Hydrosave has agreed to work alongside Scottish Water Alliance to provide supervision of leak detection activities for a new find and fix initiative. The opportunity enables Hydrosave to demonstrate our ability to mobilise highly skilled managers, implement performance improvement initiatives and provide specialist and complex leak detection skills.
In July, Hydrosave completed the initial phase of a project with Three Valleys Water for meter replacement, installation of “Leakfrog” flow measurement equipment and data analysis of their non revenue per capita consumption meters. The project was completed successfully on budget and to a tight timescale. The client commended the team comprising Darren Cockerill, Ross Leader, Alistair Pearson and Rob Best and quoted “ the four team members worked exceptionally as a team, they used their expertise and experience to deliver this project to a high standard “.
Graham Ash has been promoted to Contract Delivery Manager for Hydrosave. Working alongside Mark Hughes the Contract Delivery Team will be responsible for ensuring the successful implementation of health & safety policies, training and development plans and specialist project management. The team will work closely with the Water Operations Team to further enhance our client management and contract support, whilst ensuring all aspects of our business work efficiently and effectively.

Hydrosave are proud to announce they are co-sponsors of the 2008 Global Leakage Summit in London. The 2 day conference will attract delegates from all over the world and include some of the world’s expert practitioners.

In April, Hydrosave started a formal management and development programme for all Supervisors and Special Project employees.
The training is intended to provide our managers of the future with a formal and structured development programme, and enable them to share their experiences of line management.
Severn Trent Water has extended the scope of a pressure management project being undertaken by Hydrosave and Hyder Consulting. The project includes a review of DMA performance, critical pressure monitoring and assessment of flow modulation.
Managed by the HR team at Green Lane the training will focus on elements such as current employment regulations, managing performance, capability, team working, customer service, time management and communication. The training is intended to be informative, fun and will include guests from throughout the group and even some actors role play participation. Employees whom demonstrate line management potential will also be invited on to future programmes.

Hydrosave’s HR team has recently commissioned the go ahead of a Customer Services NVQ training programme.
Whilst we have always emphasised the importance of Customer Service, the programme is intended to focus on adopting a culture to recognise the importance of working with the public and with our clients. Stuart Mobbs, Director quoted “water companies are under strict regulatory performance guidelines for customer service and it is imperative that Hydrosave support their clients with this initiative”.
The first project is a trial but is intended to role out to all employees.
