The infrastructure used to supply our water is critical to public health and to national industry. Renewing and maintaining it is therefore a top priority. This infrastructure comprises a vast and complex combination of old, new, good, bad and sometimes forgotten elements. In devising and delivering a strategy to manage our water infrastructure, it is therefore vital that an accurate understanding is established of its condition and performance. Whilst, for newer assets, this knowledge can often be delivered through advanced technology providing automated reports, for the bulk of existing infrastructure a specialist individual asset survey will need to be undertaken.
