Pipeline inspections for Scottish Water using Aganova’s Nautilus technology

In March 2025, Scottish Water needed to inspect a 29.2km cast iron raw water pipeline between Baddinsgill and Pateshill near Edinburgh. The DN600 pipe was gravity-fed and its remote location made traditional leak detection difficult due to limited access and lack of consistent monitoring points.

How HydroV® valve release system adds value to our licence partners

Hydrosave’s HydroV® solution is a safe and effective way to operate, and release seized valves. It is a service that can be offered to the customers of water companies by becoming a licensed partner.

Successful valve release thanks to HydroV®

Hydrosave was called upon to release three seized valves on the River Test in Rivermead Close, Romsey.

pCAT™ pipeline condition survey

Scottish Water and Morrison Construction commissioned the services of Hydrosave to assess the pipe wall condition of a raw water DN150 DI pipe laid in 1982.

ValvePAK® successfully seals leaking valves

How Hydrosave's DWI approved injection sealing product helped our client successfully seal 3 leaking water trunk main valve packing glands.

Service Reservoir seized valves enabled for internal inspection

By utilizing their patented in house develop modular valve release system which ascertains the “free movement” of the mechanical components; the valve team managed to successfully release and make operable each wash out flat valve by attaching to the external hand wheel and to the inlet valve tapered extension drive respectively.

Southern Water

Hydrosave were requested to provide skilled operatives to undertake Southern Waters planned mains cleansing programme. The programme included the periodic cleansing of x85 DMAs by flushing at predetermined volumes and flow rates whilst monitoring both chlorine and turbidity levels.

Yorkshire Water / DNV.GL

Hydrosave were requested to undertake a number of operational field tests which incorporated asset surveys and flow and pressure data collection. Field tests ranged from 100 to 400 logger installs including the placement of temporary ultrasonic flow measurement devices. Typically data was collected from existing network pressure points and flow meters as well as pumps, stored water sites and trunk mains.

Unaccounted for Water

Since October 2015 we have been working with the largest water and waste water company in England, contributing to reducing their leakage figures in line with their annual leakage target. We did this by managing part of the Unaccounted for Water Project. We were able to pull together a team of technical and billing experts very quickly and we began to bridge the gap between Wholesale objectives and Retail requirements.

Vacants Management

When the Scottish water market opened up to competition, Business Stream was created to act as the retailer on day 1, inheriting the entire retail customer base from Scottish Water, including thousands of vacants. To incentive all licensed providers to manage their vacant properties effectively, the regulator introduced an incentive scheme, and then added a penalty scheme where Licensed Providers would incur a charge if Scottish Water found that any commercial property was incorrectly marked vacant.
