Three large-diameter trunk main valves were leaking at an average pressure of 8 bar, causing significant water loss (0.023 MLD) and creating a long-standing bog on agricultural land. Previous costly repair attempts left the valves difficult to maintain.
To resolve the issue, ValvePAK®, a DWI-approved injection sealing product, was used to seal the leaking packing glands. Despite restricted access due to integral gearboxes, modifications were made to allow successful injection. The valves were sealed under pressure and tested for integrity.
Results:
- All three valves fully sealed and operational
- 23 cubic metres of water saved daily
- Future maintenance enabled
- Flooded chamber emptied without pumps
- Agricultural land began to dry
- Positive customer perception of the client
ValvePAK® meets all regulatory requirements, including DWI Reg 31(4)(b) and BS 6920 standards, supporting water quality and public health compliance.
